Footwear and Prosthetics
1) Medical Preventive Footwear (In Depth Footwear):- Medical preventive footwear is ¼ to ½ deeper than normal footwear. The extra room can accommodate foot changes like calluses or hammertoes.
2) Therapeutic Footwear (Healing Footwear/Off Loading Footwear):- Therapeutic footwear is healing foot ulcer and recover of foot surgery. This type of foot wear specially designed to keep your feet healthy if you have neuropathy, Nerve damage or an existing foot injury. These are made on the basis of your Pedobarogram readings to avoid pressure on specific points of foot so the ulcer at those areas heal.
3) Orthopaedic Footwear:- Orthopaedic Footwear and insole are created from a mould of your foot. This type of footwear may be an option if your feet have deformity. Orthopaedic footwear designed to give more comfort to those with bunions, corns or other foot problems.
Orthotic:- An Orthosis is an externally applied device used to modify structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal system.
- CROW:- CROW is a type of custom made orthosis that is designed to reduce pressure on the foot and the ankle for Patient who have a neuropathic ulcer and Charcot joint.
- PTB Orthosis:- PTB Orthosis is custom moulded plastic brace deigned to unweight the foot and ankle. It decreased the amount of weight being placed on bones, joints, tissue and also immobilize painful joint of the foot.
- Air Cast:- Air walker provide protection and comfort while controlling oedema. Air walker clinically proven to be effective in healing fracture and managing edema. Ideal for Stable fracture of leg, foot and ankle. Several ankle sprain and post operative fracture.
- Foot Orthoses:- Foot orthoses are devices inserted into shoes to provide support for the foot by redistributing ground reaction forces acting on the foot joints while standing, walking or running. Foot orthoses are effective at reducing pain for people with painful high-arched feet and may be effective for people with plantar fasciitis or bunions.
Prosthetic:- An Artificial device to replace or augment a missing or impaired part of the body.
- Silicone Partial Foot Prostheses:- A silicone forefoot prosthesis replaces the amputated part of a foot. It can be worn when the ankle joint is fully retained following an amputation. Silicone partial foot prostheses make a largely natural gait pattern possible. Affected individuals can wear standard shoes again; walk barefoot and master everyday life without excessive limitations.
-
Syme’s Prostheses:- The Symes amputation describes the amputation procedure in which the ankle joint is removed from the lower extremity and the heel pad of the foot is placed on the bottom of the residual limb to allow for weight bearing.
-
Below Knee Prostheses:- The transtibial amputation (also known as a below the knee or BK) is the most common level of lower limb amputation.
-
Knee Disarticulation Prosthesis:- A knee disarticulation involves the removal of the knee joint at the condyles. It is typically considered a “long” transfemoral amputation because a prosthetic knee joint is still required to walk. While there may be differences in socket design and prosthetic knee selection, the treatment of a knee disarticulation and transfemoral amputation and treatment are very similar.
-
Above Knee Prostheses:- Above knee amputation involves the removal of the lower extremity above the knee joint. A prosthetic knee and foot are used to restore function of the lower extremity.
-
Hip Disarticulation Prostheses:- A hip disarticulation involves the complete removal of lower extremity from the hip joint. A prosthetic hip, knee and foot are used to restore function.
